Ludhiana, June 27, 2023 (News Team): India’s first University to impart Artificial Intelligence – led education for undergraduate and post – graduate programmes has become operational in Karjat near Mumbai, as the Maharashtra Government’s Higher and Technical Education Department has given its final nod. The University will commence its first academic year from 1st August this year and expects many students from Punjab to seek admissions.
Giving an opportunity to the students of Punjab to pursue the undergraduate and post-graduate education in AI-led streams, the Universal AI University has undertaken a massive outreach in Punjab for inviting students for the new University's undergraduate and Post - Graduate programmes. In the First Academic year, Universal AI University is expecting at least 100 applications coming in from the students of Punjab.
The University has undertaken a school -level outreach through school fairs and meeting school counselors in the cities like Amritsar, Ludhiana and Naba. The University representatives have visited the schools like Delhi Public School, Amritsar; Mount Litera Zee School, Amritsar; Ryan International School, Ludhiana; MGN Public School, Kapurthala; Sat Paul Mittal School, Ludhiana; Sacred Heart, Ludhiana; BCM Arya School, Shastri Nagar, Ludhiana and others.
Speaking at the announcement, Prof. Tarundeep Singh Anand, Chancellor and Founder of Universal AI University said, “India’s first dedicated AI University will be a key driver of the country's and the State’s growth and development in the 21st century by teaching Universal skill - sets. Additionally, the university would serve as a research hub for the development of new AI technologies, which would bring economic and technological benefits to India.With the world moving towards more automation and digital transformation, AI education and research is highly important for a country to stay competitive in the global economy. The students from Punjab will immensely benefit from the AI-led education.”
The new Universal AI University will offer a specially designed curriculum in the field of Artificial Intelligence. The University has tailored special Undergraduate and Post Graduate programmes in AI and Future Technologies. It has also designed other new-age courses such as Liberal Arts and Humanities, Global Affairs and Diplomacy, Law, Environment and Sustainability and Sports Sciences. The University has set up a Green campus in Karjat near Mumbai in Maharashtra.
Under India’s new National Education Policy, the Government is striving to introduce skill – oriented courses to the country’s young population to gain vocational or higher education degrees by 2035 – an increase of 500 million students.
